A Journey Through Life, Thoughts, and Recollections in the World of Ceramics
Wasinburee Supanichvoraparch’s ceramic creations reflect a lifetime of artistic dedication and unparalleled quality. Particularly in the realm of ceramics, his work attains a level of mastery that is truly divine.
After his debut exhibition “Unsinn Im Sinn” (Unsense in Sense) in 2014, showcasing his inaugural ceramic pieces in Thailand, Wasinburi has continued to captivate audiences throughout Europe. The term “Unsinn” is employed to convey a sense of senselessness or an attempt to surpass the limitations of meaning—a theme that resonates deeply within his art.
Ticy City invites you to explore the upcoming exhibition “อสาร”, running from November 25, 2023, to January 14, 2024, at Atta Gallery. Curated by Nim Niyomsin, this exhibition offers an intimate look into Wasinburee Supanichvoraparch’s memories and the evolution of his ceramic craft from his early years to the present.
The phrase “Unsinn Im Sinn!” was initially introduced by a professor during Wasinburee’s first year of ceramics studies, shaking him amid the playful atmosphere of his peers. This phrase left a lasting impact, becoming a constant reminder of the unconventional path Wasinburee was destined to take.
Throughout his academic journey and explorations in art, Wasinburi encountered a profound sense of freedom, joy, and simplicity through the tactile experience of working with clay. While not the starting point of his ceramic journey, this period marked a transformative phase that propelled Wasinburi towards becoming a ceramic artist.
This exhibition serves as a platform to reevaluate both positive and challenging memories, as well as his approaches to teaching and creating art. Wasinburee’s inquisitive nature leads him to question societal norms, explore new technologies alongside traditional methods, and challenge conventional views on ceramics.
“Unsinn Im Sinn” becomes a lens through which Wasinburee examines the potential consequences of unconventional artistic methods, provoking thoughts on the ever-evolving nature of history and our perceptions. His artworks delve into the essence of reality in life, acknowledging even the smallest factors that may influence outcomes.
The phrase, once seemingly nonsensical, takes on a profound meaning as Wasinburee analyzes his work and life experiences. It has become a testament to the artist’s belief in possibilities beyond controlled processes. Wasinburee places importance on ceramics as a medium for storytelling, capturing both the joyous and painful aspects of life.
Wasinburee’s creations are more than an exhibition; they are a personal record—a journey through his life, thoughts, and memories. Each piece absorbs experiences, emotions, and sentiments, translating them into a visual language through the sculpting, carving, and molding of clay. The exhibition “อสาร” becomes a narrative between the artist’s life and his ceramic creations, an opportunity for self-exploration, experimentation, and rediscovery.
