For “Kho,Muang Petch,” or “Phetpaya Gasorn,” the Tavoy lineage Thai Albino buffalo, the largest in the world and the most valuable, valued at up to 18 million baht, is under the care of his guardian, Jittanath Limthongkul, of Wanna Suwan Farm, located in Tambon Nang Lae, Mueang District, Chiang Rai Province. He is also the first buffalo to strut and meet the Prime Minister at The Thai Government House of Thailand is pushing for him to become a Thai Soft Power Buffalo, as he is the talk of the town and has a large fanbase.
This young, muscular buffala is 5 years and 3 months old, weighing 1,500 kilograms, standing 175 centimeters from the hoof to the shoulder, and measuring over 3 meters from nose to tail. He is considered the most majestic Brahman bull with strikingly handsome features, including a large bone structure, wide-open hump, genuine hoof, well-built neck, full rear, straight back, gracefully curved tail, large joints, and an impressive breeding rate of up to 90% for producing Brahman calves.
Moreover, he possesses the auspicious features of a Brahman buffalo according to Brahman literature, such as having a silver ring of hair at the front hooves, a golden ring of hair at the rear hooves near the hips on both left and right sides, and a crescent moon-shaped hairline near the left and right eyes. According to belief, these features bring fortune and luck to the owner.
Thus, it’s not surprising that with such exceptional qualities, Kho, Muang Petch, ranks as the most expensive Brahman buffalo in Thailand, fetching a price of 18 million baht.
On April 13-14, 2024, during the Thai Songkran Festival, Jittanath will bring Kho, Muang Petch, along with 4-5 giant buffalo friends, to play in the water on Khao San Road to promote Thai tourism and publicize Thai Brahman buffaloes.
