A Valuable Photo Exhibition
Ticy City invites you to experience the historic routes of the Inca civilization, one of the most advanced and grand empires in the Andean mountains of South America before Columbus, through the photo exhibition “Qhapaq Ñan: The Great Inca Road.” This exhibition, organized by the Embassy of Peru in Thailand in collaboration with Siam Piwat, the Ministry of Culture of Peru, and the Qhapaq Ñan National Headquarters Project, is supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru and the Embassy of Peru in Thailand.
The “Qhapaq Ñan: The Great Inca Road” exhibition showcases a collection of photographs that promote the preservation and appreciation of this invaluable historic route. It offers a visual journey through various paths, highlighting the cultural significance and natural beauty of the Andes, the longest mountain range in the world, spanning seven countries: Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, and Argentina.
Qhapaq Ñan, built by the ancient Incas, is a testament to human ingenuity. It connects villages across diverse regions and terrains, from snow-capped peaks over 6,000 meters high to coastal plains, tropical rainforests, fertile valleys, and deserts. This network of routes served as a means of communication, transportation, and trade, playing a crucial role in the Inca Empire’s infrastructure.
The historic Qhapaq Ñan was the primary route connecting the people of the Tawantinsuyu Empire, or Inca Empire, with the capital city of Cusco. Stretching over 30,000 kilometers, it branched out to four main regions and connected Peru to neighboring countries like Ecuador, Bolivia, Colombia, Chile, and Argentina. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2014, Qhapaq Ñan is more than just a transportation route; it was a center of commerce, facilitating the exchange of social, economic, cultural, technological, political, and religious practices.
In addition to the historic route photographs, the Embassy of Peru in Thailand invites interested participants to join a “Retablo” painting workshop, an artistic expression combining culture, religion, and various narratives. Participants can create their own designs on Saturday, July 13, 2024, from 12:00 to 16:00 at Siam Discovery, 3rd floor. The workshop is limited to 50 participants and is free of charge. Registration is available at this link.
Experience the rich cultural heritage and the grandeur of this historic route at the “Qhapaq Ñan: The Great Inca Road” exhibition from June 25 to July 21, 2024, at the 5th floor of Siam Discovery, The Exploratorium.
