What to Expect at BKK Expo 2024
Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is hosting this large-scale event to showcase the city’s development in various dimensions. The Expo offers visitors the chance to learn about Bangkok’s transformation through collaboration. Enjoy city-themed activities, demonstrations, games, storytelling, and fun performances across five main city zones:
- Economic City: Discover stories of economic growth, opportunities, and quality of life improvements.
- Creative City: Explore exhibitions on lifelong learning and education for all ages.
- Safe City: Learn about public safety and health measures.
- Sustainable City: See how Bangkok manages the environment and plans for the future.
- Travel City: View current and future transportation methods in Bangkok, essential for city life and mobility.
Central Exhibition Zone
This zone highlights Bangkok’s changes over the past two years, focusing on transparency, technology use, and public participation. Key features include:
- Traffy Fondue Platform: For tackling corruption.
- Bangkok City Model Exhibition: An interactive model of Bangkok with lights, colors, and sound.
- Giant Water Drainage Tunnel Model: A realistic display explaining the need for and operation of Bangkok’s water drainage tunnels.
Activities and Highlights
- Taste Delicious Food: Sample dishes from all 50 districts of Bangkok.
- Community Products: Shop for local goods.
- Workshops and Play Areas: Engage in various activities and outdoor play areas for kids.
- Discussion Panels and Performances: Enjoy a variety of talks and shows.
Special Events
- Cat Café Zone: Spend time with adorable cats and learn about adoption options. Limited to 15 people per session to keep the cats comfortable.
- Final Day Activities (June 23, 2024): Join the “Discoveries in Benjakitti Park” event to explore urban wildlife and compete in a duck boat race to collect trash. Register at 4:00 PM, with the race starting at 4:30 PM.
Getting There
The Expo is from June 20-23, 2024, 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM at the Benjakitti Forest Park Museum Building. Here are some transportation options:
- Free BMA Feeder Electric Bus: Available from BTS Asok Station (1:00 PM – 9:30 PM).
- Bike Sharing: Free for the first hour, limited to two times a day. Available at eight locations, including BTS Nana, Benjakitti Park, MRT Khlong Toei, and others.
- Free Electric Tuk-Tuks (Muvmi): From BTS Phloen Chit and MRT Lumphini (1:00 PM – 4:00 PM).
- Free Electric Motorbike Taxis: From MRT Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, or book a ride through the ‘Smart WIN’ app (service fee applies).
- Personal Vehicles: Park at nearby locations like Lumphini Park and The PARQ, then take event buses or tuk-tuks from MRT Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (parking fees apply).
