Dive into a playful and colorful world with “Breathing: Vibrant Inflatable Art of Fruits and Vegetables,” created by the talented South Korean artist Choi Jeong Hwa! As part of the Bangkok Art Biennale 2024, this delightful installation is on display at CentralWorld, and it’s open until February 25, 2025. It’s the perfect place to reconnect with the joy of art in everyday life!
CentralWorld is thrilled to team up with the Bangkok Art Biennale to present this charming collection of oversized inflatable sculptures. You’ll find stunning representations of fruits, veggies, and beautiful blooming lotuses that celebrate the wonders of nature while offering a fun, interactive experience. Located on the 3rd-floor Balcony, this exhibition invites everyone to enjoy contemporary art, making Bangkok shine as a cultural hotspot for locals and visitors alike.
But there’s more than meets the eye! “Breathing” also carries a meaningful message. Choi Jeong Hwa encourages everyone to think about life’s changes and challenges while inspiring us to care for and protect our beautiful planet. This connects beautifully with the Biennale’s theme, “Nurture Gaia,” which is all about raising awareness for the environment and celebrating its vibrant diversity.
Choi is known for his eye-catching and playful designs inspired by everyday objects. In this exhibition, he’s brought seven amazing inflatable pieces to life, featuring colorful versions of lettuce, carrots, oranges, radishes, pumpkins, and blooming lotuses. His bright colors and fun shapes capture the exciting energy of city life, sparking joy and curiosity in everyone. And with their grand scale, these sculptures are perfectly at home on CentralWorld’s spacious 3rd-floor Balcony, which connects Ratchadamri Road to Ratchaprasong Junction.
Making the experience even more special, you’ll find “The Head,” a stunning four-meter-tall sculpture of an Indian woman adorned with lovely floral details by Indian artist Ravinder Reddy. Originally gifted to CentralWorld by the Indian-Thai Chamber of Commerce in 2010, this beautiful piece is now on view at the National Museum Bangkok, showcasing CentralWorld’s commitment to public art.
Following the success of past exhibitions, like Yayoi Kusama’s “14 Pumpkins: Inflatable Pumpkin Balloons” in 2019, “Breathing” highlights CentralWorld’s dedication to making art fun and accessible for everyone of all ages, turning it into a cultural destination in the heart of Bangkok.
