128 Years of Swarovski’s Journey
The grand exhibition of “Swarovski Masters of Light” has unveiled its global presence today at the Contemporary Art Museum in Shanghai, China. Take a mesmerizing journey through time and history as we celebrate 128 years of Swarovski’s exquisite jewelry craftsmanship, which has captured hearts worldwide.
Founded in 1895 by Daniel Swarovski (1862-1956) in Wattens, Austria, Swarovski revolutionized the world of crystal and glass cutting technology. Their jewelry pieces shimmer like precious treasures, adored by people around the globe.
The Masters of Light exhibition showcases the enduring legacy of the brand, adorned by renowned figures from the realms of fashion, film, and music for over a century. Witness crystals on iconic creations by Christian Dior, Gucci, Guo Pei, and worn by pop culture icons like Harry Styles and Rihanna.
Thailand’s young heartthrob, Blue-Pongthiwat Tungwarath, graced the opening event, donning Swarovski jewelry. Joining him were celebrities from Singapore, Malaysia, and China. Blue’s collection included various pieces, from the octagonal Dextera pendant to the black rhodium-plated Dextera watch, and the tennis bracelet Matrix, alongside the triangular-cut black rhodium-plated Matrix bracelet and the Lucent cocktail ring, all designed to make a statement.
But that’s not all; Masters of Light showcases over 60 exclusive couture outfits from the world’s most renowned fashion houses, an unprecedented collaboration spanning 128 years of crystal jewelry. Fashionistas will be enthralled by the likes of Alexander McQueen, Armani Privé, Balenciaga, Christian Dior, Fendi, Gucci, Guo Pei, Jimmy Choo, Louis Vuitton, Robert Wun, Thierry Mugler, and Vivienne Westwood.
Furthermore, the exhibition presents a special fashion segment featuring outfits worn by celebrities like Christina Aguilera and Marilyn Monroe, graciously loaned by Ted Stampfer.
The unique stage costumes and red carpet ensembles from Swarovski’s Heritage Collection take the spotlight, presenting distinctive designs never before seen by the public. The exhibition also features jewelry, figurines, and crystals from Swarovski, with over 1,000 pieces, including the largest Chaton crystal ever created.
From its 19th-century origins to its present-day presence in Shanghai, Masters of Light presents a breathtaking journey through a visionary panorama divided into eight rooms, including the Time Room, Luminaries of Light, History of the Future, Jewelry Box, Pop Icons, Wonder in Geometry, and the Diamond of the Future.
To explore the intimate relationship between Swarovski and contemporary art, Beijing-based artist Tian Xiaolei has crafted exclusive artworks inspired by Swarovski’s themes and symbols, offering a unique perspective on the brand’s creativity.
Another highlight is the “Galaxy Collection,” a stunning selection of exquisite jewelry designed by Giovanna Englebert, created using Swarovski Created Diamonds, grown in Swarovski’s laboratory.
