If you’re wandering through the historic Tha Tien neighborhood in Bangkok and find yourself craving something bold, savory, and downright soul-warming, let me point you straight to Aroy Tatien. This new boat noodle joint is quickly becoming a local gem—and it’s not just the name that’s aroy (Thai for “delicious”).
Tucked into a quiet alley across from Wat Pho and just steps from the Chao Phraya River, Aroy Tatien delivers classic Thai boat noodles with a serious upgrade. What sets this place apart? The broth. It’s rich, deep, and packed with flavor, simmered for over 10 hours with cuts of pork or beef that practically melt into the soup. The recipe includes a mix of Chinese medicinal herbs and no less than 28 Thai herbs, crafted by Chef Dusit Lahhib. It’s aromatic, intense, and tastes like someone’s been cooking it with love all day—because they have.
As a noodle fan, I was impressed with their range of noodle options. Don’t miss their fettuccine-style noodle—it’s a fun fusion twist that works surprisingly well in this Thai classic. And if you’re not in the mood for noodles alone, their menu has plenty more to offer.
What else to order?
Try their grilled pork neck, fried potato wedges, or the assorted luak jim (blanched meat served with dipping sauce). Their Thai-style salads—or yums—are also fantastic. Think young coconut salad with grilled chicken, glass noodle salad, beef with kale, spicy salted egg papaya salad, and even a vegetarian mixed mushroom option. Everything’s bold, bright, and perfect for sharing.

And yes, there’s dessert.
Their homemade coconut milk ice cream is served with separate toppings like sticky rice and fresh mango—Instagram-worthy and refreshingly good. Wash it all down with a sugarcane slush that’s both naturally sweet and ultra-cooling in the Bangkok heat.

Not sure what to get? Try a set.
If you want to sample a bit of everything (and honestly, who doesn’t?), Aroy Tatien offers curated meal sets that are a total steal:
- Set 1 – Sweet & Savory: Boat noodles, boiled meatballs, pork rinds, and coconut milk ice cream
- Set 2 – Filling Gut: Boat noodles, boiled meatballs, pork rinds, and your choice of Thai salad
- Set 3 – Duo Delicious: Two bowls of boat noodles, a Thai salad, two portions of pork rinds, and two ice creams
Pro tip for meat lovers: Add their premium Thai sliced beef—tender, juicy, and made for soaking up that broth.
But this place isn’t just about the food. The ambiance is just as thoughtfully put together. Set in a restored old shophouse with high ceilings and open space, the vibe is relaxed yet stylish. One standout detail: a feature wall decorated with colorful plastic mats by Rakchat Panich, Thailand’s first plastic mat maker. It’s a clever nod to Thai tradition, with a modern upcycled twist.
