Discover Monsoon Flavors at Siam Tea Room: A Seasonal Thai Culinary Experience

Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park welcomes the rainy season with a special menu of traditional Thai dishes, packed with fresh herbs, vegetables, and immune-boosting ingredients.

Siam Tea Room at Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park is celebrating the rainy season with its limited-time Monsoon Flavors menu, highlighting the essence of Thai cuisine with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Rich in vegetables, herbs, and spices known for their immunity-boosting properties, this seasonal menu aims to keep you warm and healthy during the rainy months.

Chef Aoi – Supatra Kamail, the creative force behind the Siam Tea Room, explains that vegetables flourish during the monsoon, offering sweet and crisp flavors packed with antioxidants that enhance immunity, making them ideal for the rainy season. The menu features six traditional Thai dishes, crafted using fresh ingredients from across the country.

“We’ve sourced the freshest ingredients from every region to create these special dishes, perfect for the rainy season,” says Chef Aoi. “For instance, we use ferns from Chiang Rai for a spicy salad, and stir-fry huckleberry, a local vegetable known for its blood-nourishing properties, sourced from Prachinburi.”

The rainy season menu also includes protein-rich meats and fish. Free-range chicken from Nakhon Pathom, known for its sweet, tender meat and low fat, is prepared in a flavorful green curry with fresh bamboo shoots. Indian mackerel and roe from Chonburi, highly sought after during the monsoon, are featured in a sour curry with huckleberry, offering a perfect balance of flavors and nutrients like omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, protein, and calcium.

Appetizers to Start:

  • Spicy Fern Salad with Minced Pork and Seafood (310++ baht)
  • Shrimp Paste Chili Dip with Fried Mackerel and Vegetables (320++ baht)
  • Stir-fried Huckleberry with Salted Egg and Chili (320++ baht)

Hearty Curries:

  • Sour Curry with Indian Mackerel, Roe, and Huckleberry (480++ baht)
  • Green Curry with Free-Range Chicken and Fresh Bamboo Shoots (350++ baht)

Chef Aoi also offers a rare and hard-to-find dessert – Sweetened Sago with Coconut Ice Cream (210++ baht). High in vitamin B, this dessert is paired with sago, a jackfruit-like ingredient that helps regulate heart rate. According to Chef, making sweetened sago is a challenging process, but the result is a unique and delicious treat.

“The sago needs to be washed with lime water before it can be sweetened, ensuring the flavor seeps into the pieces. If lime water is unavailable, lemon juice works as a substitute. The sweetened sago is essential for balancing the dish, served with coconut ice cream for a perfect finish,” Chef Aoi explains.
