For Ticy City, “Fah Jarod Sai” is a novel that has captivated readers with its touching love story. The tale of the handsome Major Dr. Sharif, who serves as a royal bodyguard, physician, and relative of King Ahmed, and the beautiful Michelle de Laronière, an orphan raised in a convent with a mixed heritage, has enchanted many. The vivid desert scenes described by author So-Park Suwan add to the novel’s charm, making it beloved across generations.

Seventeen years ago, this beloved novel was adapted into a grand musical to inaugurate the Muangthai Rachadalai Theatre by Scenario Company. The long-awaited return of “Fah Jarod Sai The Musical” is now a reality, featuring a star-studded cast that brings color and emotion to this epic tale. Leading the cast are Nadech Kugimiya as Sharif, Kam Kulkornpatch as Michelle, Nuna Nuengthida as Kashfiya, Keng Tachaya as Oman, and Kob Songsith as King Ahmed.

This version of “Fah Jarod Sai The Musical” marks Nadech Kugimiya’s debut in musical theatre, and he has passed with flying colors. This masterpiece, directed by the meticulous Takonkiet Viravan, brings to life the romantic story of Sharif and Michelle set in the scorching desert amidst the throne war of “Hilfara City.”

As the curtains rise, the breathtaking sets, lighting, sound, and costumes immediately captivate the audience, immersing them in the atmosphere of “Hilfara City.” The cast’s stellar performances further enhance this experience.

Nadech Kugimiya’s portrayal of Sharif is particularly noteworthy. Making his entrance in the royal bodyguard uniform, his striking appearance is matched by his excellent acting and singing skills. Whether in romantic or action scenes, he delivers with charm and intensity, showcasing his dedication and hard work.

Leading Kam Kulkornpatch, known as a musical powerhouse, impresses as Michelle. Her performance is filled with strength and determination, and her world-class voice resonates powerfully throughout the theatre.

Nuna Nuengthida’s portrayal of Kashfiya is another standout performance. She takes on the role of a villain with remarkable depth, showcasing a range of emotions through her songs and acting that leave a lasting impression.

Veteran actor Kob Songsith brings his seasoned expertise to the role of King Ahmed, delivering a performance that is both powerful and nuanced. Keng Tachaya, as Oman, impresses with his portrayal of a brutal character, using his powerful voice and strong presence to great effect.

The ensemble cast also deserves praise for their energetic performances, adding vibrancy and dynamic energy to the musical. Their singing, dancing, and acting skills contribute significantly to the show’s overall impact.

Key elements that complete this musical are the beautiful and poignant songs, which perfectly capture the emotions of the story. A particularly memorable scene is the romantic desert night, which elicited gasps, cheers, and thunderous applause from the audience.

“Fah Jarod Sai The Musical” in its 2024 version is grand, worthy, and definitely worth the wait. Performances run from June 12 to August 10, 2024, at Muangthai Rachadalai Theatre. Tickets start at 800 THB and are available at all Thai Ticket Major counters.
