Determined and focused, Ruby refuses to let anything or anyone deter her from her goals, especially the privileged classmates she intentionally avoids. However, when she discovers Lydia Bufford in a compromising situation, Ruby becomes the focus of James, Lydia’s unsuspecting older brother, and soon, their orderly worlds begin to shake.

James Bufford:

James, the scion of the Bufford fashion empire, seeks liberation from his domineering father, Mortimer Bufford, by escaping the pressures of Bufford Manor. When Ruby refuses to submit to his control, James’s influential and glamorous world turns upside down, leading him into uncharted territory.

Lydia Bufford:

At first glance, Lydia appears to be the perfect figurehead of the Bufford fashion dynasty. Always poised and elegant, with impeccable grades and an unwavering interest in fashion, Lydia’s world is shattered when she falls for one of her teachers and gets caught. Threatening to scandalize the Bufford family, Lydia’s actions force her into a confrontation with her brother James and inadvertently draw her twin sister Ruby into the spotlight.

Ember Bell:

Ember owns the blog “Bellbird” and is a confident fashion designer. She often showcases her work online and remains steadfast in her beliefs, unfazed by others’ opinions. Ember is always ready to help and advise her older sister Ruby but begins to worry as Ruby becomes increasingly entangled in James’s social circle, drifting away from their family.

Alister Ellington:

Alister is James’s confidant and good friend but feels pressured by their secretive relationship. Unwilling to reveal their connection to the public, Alister must make difficult decisions after James’s relationship with Ruby is discovered, leading them both into uncharted territory.

Lynn Wang:

Lynn is Ruby’s supportive friend at Maxton Hall, the vivacious daughter of a famous Asian artist couple. She dreams of attending Oxford alongside Ruby and is always straightforward, standing by her friend’s side and keeping Ruby’s school life from becoming too bitter.
