Renowned art collector Sermkhun Kunawong proudly presents the “Sermkhun Kunawong” Art Museum, showcasing a diverse collection of national-level artworks from master artists, leading instructors, and emerging talents. Featuring works by esteemed artists such as Thawan Duchanee, Chakkaphan Poosyakit, Preecha Thaothong, Sakdawut Wisetmani, Chamruang Vichienket, Chalood Nimsamer, and many others, the museum boasts over 1,000 pieces of art from 180 artists.
Located within the Sermkhun family’s residence and workspace, the museum spans two buildings: the five-story Queuebick and the three-story The Residences. Every corner is adorned with captivating artworks, including outdoor sculptures by various artists.
Describing his passion for art, Sermkhun Kunawong recalls how he initially started collecting artwork with personal funds, eventually leading to the establishment of the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre in 2004. Now, with the opening of the “Sermkhun Kunawong” Art Museum, his extensive collection finds a new home, showcasing a living museum concept where art is integrated into daily life.
Visitors can explore various themed rooms, each meticulously curated to offer a unique artistic experience. From the majestic Krud Room featuring sculptures and paintings to The Parlour showcasing rare collections and works by renowned artists like Chalood Nimsamer, and Sawasdi Tantisuk, every space tells a story of artistic excellence.
Ascending to the second floor, visitors encounter The Study Room, a fusion of Western and Eastern styles housing works by prominent artists like Silpa Bhirasri and Vasan Sitthiket. Meanwhile, the Khao Laun Room on the fifth floor displays contemporary works by emerging talents, creating a platform for young artists to shine.
The museum also features The Thai Heritage Room, dedicated to preserving and celebrating Thai artistry through traditional crafts and artifacts. Additionally, The Buddha Art Room showcases masterpieces by Chalermchai Kositpipat and team reflecting the spiritual and cultural essence of Thailand.
From the quaint Penthouse Art Studio on the third floor to the underground Art Staircase exhibiting thought-provoking social and political artworks, every corner of the museum invites visitors on a journey through Thailand’s rich artistic heritage.
