To mark World Recycling Day on March 18, The Nine Center Rama 9 has unveiled a breathtaking sculpture crafted entirely from recycled materials. More than just an artistic masterpiece, this installation serves as a symbol of sustainability and environmental awareness, encouraging visitors to rethink waste and embrace a greener lifestyle.
Using over 2,000 discarded plastic bottles, the vibrant sculpture, named “Nine,” brings a fresh and playful energy to the space. It stands as a new must-visit eco-friendly attraction in Bangkok, appealing to art lovers, sustainability advocates, and conscious travelers alike.

Sustainability at the Heart of The Nine Center Rama 9
As part of MBK Group, The Nine Center Rama 9 continuously integrates sustainability, innovation, and creativity into its business practices. By aligning with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles, the mall actively promotes waste reduction, resource efficiency, and community engagement.
This year, The Nine Center Rama 9 collaborated with Srinakharinwirot University, to bring this eco-friendly initiative to life. The project not only showcases the artistic potential of recycled materials but also provides students with a unique opportunity to apply their creativity to real-world sustainability challenges.
Ms. Saranya Charoensiri, Marketing Director of Intelligent Creative & Marketing Co., Ltd., shared:
“We are committed to being a ‘green shopping center’ that fosters sustainability and creativity. ‘Nine’ is more than a sculpture—it’s a powerful statement that showcases how waste can be repurposed into something meaningful and beautiful.”

Asst. Prof. Dr. Kittikorn Nopaudompant, Dean of the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Srinakharinwirot University, added:
“The growing waste crisis demands innovative solutions. This project not only raises awareness about recycling but also equips students with essential skills such as project management, problem-solving, and teamwork—skills they can’t learn in a traditional classroom.”
Recycled Art: Transforming Trash into Treasure
For the young artists behind “Nine,” the project was both a creative challenge and a meaningful contribution to sustainability.

Nakhonrin Phosaen, a third-year Mixed Media student and project representative, shared:
“Shopping malls produce a lot of waste, especially plastic bottles. We wanted to prove that even discarded materials can be turned into something incredible. It was exciting to push the boundaries of recycling and create a sculpture that inspires others to think differently about waste.”
The sculpture’s playful curves and bold colors make it a standout photo spot and a symbol of eco-friendly innovation in Bangkok.
A Pet-Friendly, Community-Focused Destination
Designed as a nature-inspired community hub, The Nine Center Rama 9 embraces the concept of “Club of Neighbor”—a space that fosters warmth, creativity, and inclusivity. As a pet-friendly shopping center, it welcomes visitors and their furry companions to enjoy a relaxed, eco-conscious environment.
The mall’s mascot, “Nine” the French Bulldog, embodies its friendly and lively spirit, making it a perfect fit for the new recycled sculpture. This installation not only adds an artistic touch but also reinforces The Nine Center Rama 9’s role as a leader in green shopping experiences.
