Ticy City is excited to be part of the invitation to host the special Mahachati Preaching International Ceremony and the grand opening of the Mrigadayavan Palace on Thursday, May 16, 2024, starting from 1 pm onwards. This ceremony will feature teachings from Buddhist scriptures. This event marks the completion of the 12 cycles of the dragon zodiac during the reign of His Majesty King Mongkut Klao, and the 6th auspicious cycle during the reign of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua. It also coincides with the 100th anniversary of the declaration of the Mrigadayavan Palace as a sanctuary for animals on Visakha Bucha Day, May 17, 2024.
In honor of Majesties King Mongkut Klao and King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua, the Mrigadayavan Foundation, led by Her Royal Highness Princess Phatcharin Ratchasuda Sirisophapannawadee, has arranged the International Ceremony on Thursday, May 16, and Friday, May 17, 2024, and reopened the Mrigadayavan Palace for visits from Saturday, May 18, to Sunday, May 19, 2024, as a museum, following royal wishes.
For the 100th anniversary of the Mrigadayavan Palace, the foundation has established a museum dedicated to preserving the royal residences, natural surroundings, cultural heritage, and traditions. It aims to blend knowledge from various fields and promote ongoing and sustainable development while conserving architectural, natural, and cultural heritage.
The Mrigadayavan Palace will be open to the public on Saturday, May 18, and Sunday, May 19, 2024, from 9 am to 4 pm, with free admission. Moreover, students, scholars, and interested individuals can visit every Thursday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm by scheduling an appointment with the foundation office.
During the International Ceremony at the Mrigadayavan Palace in 2024, Buddhist scriptures will be preached in the Phetchaburi tradition by monks from various temples in Phetchaburi. This includes the 13 cycles of preaching, along with ceremonial decorations and displays of local arts and crafts to showcase the cultural heritage of Phetchaburi Province.
