Crush On You: Spreading Love through Plastic Bottle Recycling

Minere’s ‘Crush On You’ Initiative – Twist the Caps Before Recycling to Give Plastic Bottles a Never-Ending Life

Taking care of our planet isn’t just a trend; it’s something we all need to do. Minere, the natural mineral water brand from Nestlé Thailand, is working towards a greener future with its ‘Crush On You’ campaign. They want everyone, no matter their age or gender, to join in and help manage plastic better by participating in the campaign.

Last year, Minere introduced eco-friendly rPET bottles made from recycled plastic, making them the first in Thailand to use certified rPET bottles, approved by the Thai FDA and the United States FDA. This year, they’re continuing with the ‘Crush On You’ campaign, asking people in Thailand to twist the caps of PET water bottles before recycling. This simple action reduces bottle size, saves space, and makes recycling more efficient.

The campaign’s goal is to collect one million twisted bottles across Thailand this year, showing Minere’s commitment to reducing new plastic, using recycled plastic, and lessening carbon emissions. Thailand already does well, collecting 80% of PET plastic bottles for recycling. But there’s still room for improvement, especially in addressing the issue of improperly discarded PET bottles.

Minere believes people can make a difference by adopting the habit of twisting water bottle caps before disposal. They hope this will increase storage space and the number of bottles going into recycling, all thanks to the ‘Crush On You’ campaign.

Besides managing plastic, Minere is continuing its partnership with the ‘BOTTLE MADE FROM BOTTLES: Give Life Back to Plastic Bottles with Minere Natural Mineral Water’ project for the second year. In collaboration with Seven Eleven, Eleven Seven, and the GC YOU platform, they plan to bring circular economy principles to society by adding 100 more plastic collection points across Bangkok by the end of 2027.

Minere has big plans for a sustainable future, aiming to cut new plastic production by over 6,000 tons in 2024 – that’s like the weight of 35,000 whales! They’re also working towards having zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Through these efforts, Minere not only encourages efficient resource use and economic circulation but also wants to reduce environmental impact and contribute to cleaner air for our planet.
