ThaiBev Unites to Combat the Cold
As winter blankets the central plains and Bangkok in a refreshing chill, the mountains bear witness to a more severe reality. Here, the cold lingers, creating hardships particularly for children and the elderly who face the elements daily.
For 25 years, ThaiBev’s “Unite to Combat the Cold” initiative has transcended mere charity, becoming a crucial support system for those braving the winter’s harshness. This year, the program has once again delivered essential warmth through its iconic green blankets, bringing comfort to mountain communities in need.
No location is too distant for ThaiBev’s Green Blanket Caravan. Recently, volunteers distributed 15,000 blankets to residents in the Na Noi District of Nan Province, including students and villagers from the predominantly Hmong community of Prakitwet Saksit School.
But ThaiBev’s commitment goes well beyond just providing blankets. Partnering with the Ministry of Interior, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, and numerous other organizations, the company continues to uplift lives in these areas. This winter, their initiatives also included vital education on sustainable practices, teaching students about waste segregation and recycling.
Deputy Governor of Nan, Niwat Ngamthura, expressed his heartfelt gratitude for ThaiBev’s steadfast dedication. “For 25 years, this initiative has offered critical warmth to those most impacted by the cold. The green blankets, made from 38 recycled rPET bottles each, are not just practical gifts—they exemplify a commitment to sustainability.”
The impact of these efforts resonates deeply with recipients like 6-year-old Piyanuch Saenyang and 4-year-old Phrida Saesong. “It’s cold here almost all year round,” Piyanuch shared. “We needed new blankets, and I’m so happy to have one now. Thank you to the kind people who brought these to us—and for the snacks, too!”
Ms. Tarntip Sirinupong, Director of the Community Development Project at Thai Beverage Public Company Limited, expressed her heartfelt pride in the “ThaiBev Unites to Combat the Cold” initiative. “It’s truly rewarding to see this project stand by the Thai people for 25 years. Since its launch in 2000, we’ve upheld the vision of Mr. Charoen and Khunying Wanna Sirivadhanabhakdi, who reminded us that ‘Thais can always support one another.’
Through this initiative, we’ve delivered warmth to those battling harsh winters, distributing over 5 million green blankets over the years. These blankets not only provide physical comfort but also represent a lasting commitment to care and support.
I am deeply grateful to everyone who has been part of the Green Blanket Caravan, a symbol of generosity and compassion. Special thanks go to KPMG Phoomchai Audit Ltd., the Suan Dok Hospital Foundation, Ruamphat Yasothon Hospital, Oishi Group Public Company Limited, Berli Jucker Public Company Limited, Sermsuk Public Company Limited, F&N United Limited, and F&N Dairies (Thailand) Limited. Your partnership has been invaluable in making this 25-year journey of warmth and kindness possible.”
This program stands as a powerful testament to generosity and solidarity, uniting people across the nation. Together with its partners, ThaiBev pledges to continue its vital work, ensuring that warmth and care spread one green blanket at a time.
